Diptyque

Diptyque is a French perfume house that was founded in 1961 and was acquired in 2005 by Manzanita Capital, a London-based private equity fund.

Diptyque was founded in 1961 by three artists: set designer Yves Coueslant, painter Desmond Knox-Leet, and textile designer Christiane Gautrot.

Diptyque opened a salon on Paris' Boulevard St.Germain. They primarily provided home furnishings and printed fabrics. Scents were also imported from England. However, shortly after (1963. ), they added scented candles to the Diptyque product line, which quickly became (and still is) one of their main offerings.

L'Eau, the first Diptyque scent, was released in 1968 and is based on old English recipes for home fragrances. Three friends who enjoy traveling inspired the majority of Diptyque scents.
